ABOUT BUSINESS CLEAN UP DAY

Business Clean Up Day 2009 – a business success

The next Business Clean Up Day is on Monday, 2 March 2010

Business Clean Up is designed for Australian businesses as a great opportunity to help improve the quality of the environment and work towards reducing waste - as well as being a great team building exercise.

What a great business engagement on Business Clean Up Day 2009. Nearly 400 businesses got involved; the companies and their staff made a great difference in lending a hand to our environment. They demonstrated again that environmental action is not only socially responsible but it also makes business sense.

A special thank to our Businesses Supporters 2009: Victoria Electricity, Sparke Helmore Lawyers, Barclays Global Investors, Astron Environmental Services, Jims Skip Bins, Avant Mutual Group Limited, Symantec and seqwater.

The involvement of all Business made a huge contribution to the overall facts and figures

  • Over 630,000 volunteers all across Australia got involved
  • collected an estimated 8,300 tonnes of rubbish
  • on nearly 7,000 registered sites
  • and donated 1,377,664 hours of their time which sums up to amazing 157 years of work

Thanks again for your involvement, you really made a difference.

Please don't forget to send us your "End of Clean Up Report" so that we can create our annual Rubbish Report 2009.

We are looking very much forward to receiving your photos. Upload them to an online photo community and send us the link or send single photos (not bigger than 5 MB) to cleanup@cleanup.org.au.

If you couldn't participate on Business Clean Up Day 2009, you can still get out with your staff and colleagues to organise your own Clean Up all year round.  Simply register a site  online and we'll send you everything you need.
