Shoppers around Australia are saying a definitive NO to the single-use plastic shopping bag in favour of reusable bags like Myer's mygreenbag.
According to Ian Kiernan AO, Chairman and Founder of Clean Up Australia, the success of Myer’s mygreenbag is just another example of how Australians are changing their habits to protect their local environment.
“The enthusiasm that Myer shoppers have shown in embracing the reusable shopping bag is terrific,” said Kiernan.
Launched in July 2005, $1 from the sale of each reusable mygreenbag is donated to Clean Up Australia’s Clean Water Campaign which builds on Clean Up’s 16 years of repairing, restoring and maintaining healthy waterways. The bags are adorned with funky designs created by Australian fashion designers Wayne Cooper and Leona Edmiston – making being green a fashion statement!
“With $1 from the sale of each reusable mygreenbag donated to the Clean Water Campaign shoppers are not only reducing plastic bag waste but are actively helping to protect and preserve our waterways.
“Hundreds of wetland areas are targeted by locals each year as part of Clean Up Australia Day efforts but require ongoing work to adequately restore and maintain them. “Funds from the sale of Myer’s mygreenbag will go directly to aiding the progress of projects across Australia,“ said Kiernan.
