SITE SUPERVISOR AWARD 2012

Site Supervisor Award 2012

Site Supervisors are vital to the Clean Up Australia Day campaign success and thanks to their support the event has gone from strength to strength over the last 22 years.

To celebrate this success and support, Clean Up Australia and the Qantas Foundation asked Site Supervisors to tell us their story.

One Site Supervisor was selected to win two airfares from one capital city in Australia to another courtesy of the Qantas Foundation.

The 2012 Site Supervisor Award closed at the end of March. We congratulate Kathleen Frances-Schmah from Rockingham in WA.

2012 Site Supervisor Award Winner - Here is her story

Kathleen Frances-Schmah, Rockingham WA

For 12 years Kathleen has been participating in Clean Up Australia Day organising a clean-up of Peron Peninsula, Rockingham, W.A. A large Regional Park, the area has roads, beaches, boat ramps, parks, lookouts, walking trails and historic sites.

Their clean up has grown from strength to strength each year. 2011 was a record year with 81 volunteers filling 8 1/2 large council skips and 8 wheelie bins, as well as a small mountain of large rubbish and scrap. With key supporter groups and schools involved each year they also get help from family and friends roping in whoever is around inlcuding overseas visitors.

The groups most memorable find was a small knapsack belonging to an overseas tourist, that still contained her holiday photos. It also contained the email address of a friend so they were able to send her special photos back to the UK.

Their 2012 cleanup no doubt had an even bigger turnout!
