ARE YOU UP FOR THE SCRIBE-RAKERíS CHALLENGE?

Are you up for the Scribe-Rakerís Challenge?

Media Release - 25 August 2011

The Great Northern Clean Up is less than three weeks away, and Clean Up Australia is calling for media outlets across northern Australia to vie for the title of Great Northern ‘Scribe-Raker’ of 2011.

The challenge is simple – register a local Clean Up Site on behalf of your newspaper, radio station or TV station and put the call out for volunteers.

In each state, winners will be determined based on the number of volunteers registered and volume of rubbish removed. Bonus points will be awarded for outlets that work to raise awareness of local waste issues.

With registrations for the Great Northern Clean Up closing on Sunday, 28 August, there is no time to lose – register your site today, and start calling for volunteers to take part over the weekend of 9-11 September.

Visit greatnortherncleanup.org.au to register your site. To make it easy for your volunteers, make your ‘group name’ your outlet name – for example, ABC Radio Darwin, or Broome Advertiser.

Then prove your publicity prowess by shouting out over the air waves or in print to attract volunteers!

Report back to us straight after your event with number of volunteers on the day and number of (full) bags of rubbish by emailing marita@cleanup.com.au or calling 0415 385 056.

Winners will be announced on Monday, 19 September.
