To showcase all the wonderful work our volunteers are undertaking on Clean Up Australia Day we have started this category to give all of them their credits.
We can just showcase a few of the stories, but they stand for all of the 620,000 volunteers who lend a hand to the environment on March 1 2009.If you have your story you want us to tell, send us copy and images to firstname.lastname@example.org
"On Clean Up Australia Day 2009 a team of voluteers divers from the Sub Aquatics Dive Centre and a team of local volunteers removed over 500 bottles, broken glass and assorted rubbish from the beach floor at Lady Martin’s Beach, Point Piper the beach floor.
The removal of such a large and lethal quantity of dumped bottles within metres of swimmers has rendered one of Sydney Harbour’s picturesque and beloved public beaches safe again, re-confirming the vital work of Clean Up Australia even in the most seemingly pristine of locations."
