SUCCESS STORY 2009

    Success stories 2009

To showcase all the wonderful work our volunteers are undertaking on Clean Up Australia Day we have started this category to give all of them their credits.

We can just showcase a few of the stories, but they stand for all of the 620,000 volunteers who lend a hand to the environment on March 1 2009.

If you have your story you want us to tell, send us copy and images to cleanup@cleanup.org.au

Story 1: Lady Martin's Beach, Sydney

"On Clean Up Australia Day 2009 a team of voluteers divers from the Sub Aquatics Dive Centre and a team of local volunteers removed over 500 bottles, broken glass and assorted rubbish from the beach floor at Lady Martin’s Beach, Point Piper the beach floor.

The removal of such a large and lethal quantity of dumped bottles within metres of swimmers has rendered one of Sydney Harbour’s picturesque and beloved public beaches safe again, re-confirming the vital work of Clean Up Australia even in the most seemingly pristine of locations."
