It’s on again….it’s time to Clean Up, Mackay Region!

Previously known as “The Great Northern Clean Up”, this event is specifically held during the cooler months in northern Australia so everyone gets an opportunity to participate in the annual Clean Up Australia Day

Take part in an event near you and help intercept the Mackay region's litter before it reaches the ocean. Our region has one of the most significant catchment systems of the Great Barrier Reef so let’s protect our unique blue river, ocean, and ecosystems by pitching in to help.

This August we will be encouraging members of the community to lend a hand at any of the planned locations or even organise your own.

The events will be held at the below locations:

To say thank you to our volunteers for their efforts, Mackay Regional Council will plant five native plants, either as street trees or revegetation, for each person who participates at an event.

This event would not be possible without the generous continued support of the below organisations and their volunteers:

  • Mackay Airport
  • Sarina Landcare
  • Conservation Volunteers Australia
  • Grasstree Beach Progress Association
  • Mackay Board Riders
  • Mackay Land Rover Club

Volunteers are advised to wear enclosed footwear, insect repellent, sunscreen and to wear a hat.

Children under 14 year old must be supervised by an adult.
