Some tips to get you started:

Remember your shopping bag

Switch your toothbrush for a bamboo toothbrush.

Say no to a straw

Buy fresh bread from a local bakery

Keep a fork and spoon in your bag

Only buy loose fruit and veggies

Bring your reusable coffee cup

Ditch paper towels for tea-towels

Buy your meat or cheese from the deli and use your own container

Switch out shower gel for a bar of soap (or at least make sure you look for a liquid which comes in a recycled plastic bottle!)

Take a trip to the farmer’s market

Start using a reusable drink bottle

Do you buy soft drinks? Get yourself a SodaStream

If you have a bowl of food in the fridge you can cover it with a plate instead of plastic

Buy refills for cleaning products – or use bicarb & vinegar! Did you know clove oil in the shower kills mould?

If you find the meals at restaurants are always too big, take your own container for the leftovers

And remember to make sure you recycle your soft plastics through the REDcycle program at supermarkets. If you recycled your soft plastics via REDcycle try to find a way to buy products made from this material. This could be gardening supplies from Plastic Forests, or encouraging your kids’ school to buy outdoor furniture from Replas.

This Plastic Free July you could:

 Avoid single-use plastic packaging

Target takeaway items (the Top 4: bags, bottles, straws and coffee cups)

 Go completely plastic-free

Small changes, big difference - tell us, how will you Step Up?
