JOIN OUR CITIZEN SCIENCE PROJECT

Clean Up Australia is keen to track litter trends and we're calling on Aussies to join our Citizen Science project and count the number of items removed from our environment.

Everyone who registers to participate in Clean Up Australia activities can join in. One person per Clean Up event will be asked to input data.  You can log your collection tally online at the conclusion of your event, but you will need to know your Clean Up Australia site number* - this is required to verify your involvement and ensure statistical integrity for this project.

The collection of this information enables us to access statistical data from Clean Up activities conducted nationally, is an invaluable resource in identifying trends in the types and spread of rubbish throughout Australia and forms the basis of our annual Rubbish Report.

It’s been a tough couple of years for Australia – we’ve not only had a pandemic to deal with, but we’ve been hit by bushfires, floods and cyclones, we’ve seen increased pressures on our biodiversity and an ever-growing volume of waste leaking into our natural and marine environment.
