Clean Up Australia appoints Jenny Geddes as CEO

The new CEO of Clean Up Australia, Jenny Geddes, will join the environmental not for profit in October, replacing retiring chief executive Terrie-Ann Johnson.

Pip Kiernan, Chair of Clean Up Australia, said Geddes’ expertise spans government and public affairs, brand management, strategy, and financial management. “The Board and I feel fortunate to have found such a high-calibre person. Already a recognised figure in the NFP sector, Jenny brings with her extensive knowledge of the charitable industry along with a wealth of leadership experience and a passion for positive change.”

Commenting on her appointment, Geddes said: “I am delighted to be joining this iconic charity at such a significant time. The state of the environment is uppermost on the minds of so many Australians, and with their support, I look forward to continuing the great work that is being accomplished. It’s an honour to have the opportunity to expand Clean Up Australia’s reach and influence so the organisation can continue to make meaningful changes in tackling Australia’s waste challenges.”

Geddes has a strong background in the NFP sector, having held the position of CEO for Workplace Giving Australia for the past decade. Prior to this she was head of Corporate Communications at Sony Australia and a driving force in establishing the Sony Foundation Australia - a charity that has gone on to distribute well over $35m to Australian charities in the youth sector.

Geddes will commence in the role on 4 October. Retiring CEO, Terrie-Ann Johnson will support Geddes through a thorough handover process. Kiernan said “Terrie-Ann Johnson has served Clean Up Australia loyally for close to two decades and generously shared her knowledge following the loss of our wonderful founder, my father Ian Kiernan, AO.”
