It's not too late for Clean Up Australia Day!

It's happening on Sunday 5 March but good news - it's not too late to get involved! Let's get out there and do some good!

Ok - so we obviously won't have time to get your free kit out to you now, but we still encourage you to register, so we can count you as a participant - we want to make 2023 the biggest Clean Up Australia Day yet!

It also means you can let us know what you've picked up and removed from the environment - it's our Citizen Science project that's been running for over 30 years!  We've been able to track litter trends - we know for example that in 2022 almost 2/3 of what our volunteers collected was made of plastic, but we’re seeing emerging issues - like vapes and nangs and face masks.

So although you'll need to grab a garbage bag and a pair of gardening gloves to get out there on Sunday, we’ll still post you out a free kit, because we know that cleaning up Australia is something that communities want to do 365 days a year, and that way you’ll have a kit that you can take out when you’re picnicking in a park or walking the dog or watching sport at the local oval.

It’s been a tough couple of years for Australia – we’ve not only had a pandemic to deal with, but we’ve been hit by bushfires, floods and cyclones, we’ve seen increased pressures on our biodiversity and an ever-growing volume of waste leaking into our natural and marine environment. Australians tell us every day that they’re concerned about the state of the environment - but often feel frustrated and unsure how to make a positive impact.

Signing up to involved on Clean Up Australia Day is the best way to show you care. Can you imagine the impact we could have, if all of Australia came together on one day and took practical action to improve the environment? What a difference we'll make! Come on! Let's see how many people we can bring together on Sunday 5 March.  It’ll be a really clear message that Australians are concerned about the environment but determined to do some good – to roll up our sleeves, get out there and take positive, practical action!
