Isn’t it amazing to think that what was started thirty-five years ago by Ian Kiernan, AO – just an “average Australian” with a simple idea to make a difference in his own backyard – has now grown into the nation’s largest community-based environmental event. It’s held every year on the first Sunday in March, bringing local communities together across the nation.
Over the years, more than 23-million wonderful volunteers have stepped up, pulled on their gloves, and donated their time to improve the environment.
Registration for Clean Up Australia Day is free for communities and schools (businesses pay a small fee) and includes a free Clean Up kit with everything you need to run a safe and impactful event – including our public liability insurance cover.
