Council involvement plays a crucial role in fostering cleaner and healthier local communities. Together, we can make a real impact – building a cleaner Australia, one neighbourhood at a time.

3 Steps to get Involved

All you need to do is go through our simple registration process, (which means you’re covered by our public liability insurance) and we will send you a free Clean Up Kit with bags and gloves.

Please make sure you allow a minimum of 10 working days between registering and your event, so we have time to deliver your kit direct to your door.

Step 1

Pick a location

Choose a spot near you that you think needs a Clean Up. Great choices include streets, beaches, parks, bushland, and riverbanks. Make sure your location is safe and accessible, and that you have a plan to dispose of the rubbish after the event.

If you need help picking a location, you can visit our litter hotspot list.

You can register local hotspots you think could use a Clean Up at the link below! Register these as Community Clean Up events and remember to nominate and confirm someone as Site Supervisor who will be present on the day!

You can also register Clean Ups for your council team and staff members. We ask that these be registered as Business Clean Up events which have a $250 +GST registration fee to help support communities and schools with free materials.

TOOLKIT

We’ve put together a toolkit designed to make organising your council Clean Up a breeze. You’ll find everything you need including helpful tips for registering, planning and promoting your event, as well as other useful information.

2025 COUNCIL IMPACT

Every year, Clean Up Australia compiles a Council Report based on the data our volunteers collect across the different regions. It’s our way of understanding what’s happening, tracking progress, and figuring out how we can do even better to keep Australia clean.
